Premarital Counseling

Starting your life together is an exciting but very pivotal moment, and Premarital Counseling can provide the tools and insights to ensure a strong foundation for your marriage. Roughly half of couples have attended counseling at some point and of those that haven’t, more than half of them say they would according to studies. Unfortunately, many married couples don’t seek help until several years after the need presents itself according to psychologist and marriage expert John Gottman who specializes in divorce prediction and marital stability (Gaspard, 2021). Christian marriages that are grounded on and active in their faith are 35% less likely than non-believers to divorce according to Dr. Brad Wilcox (Stetzer, 2015). Perhaps this is one reason Jesus instructs us in Matthew 6:33 to, "seek first his kingdom and his righteousness" so we can avoid the pitfalls of marriage and enjoy His blessings. In the premarital sessions I offer, we focus on helping couples understand their unique relationship dynamics, communication styles, and shared values in addition to discussing the biblical meaning and importance of marriage. We will also explore key topics like finances, family expectations, conflict resolution, and faith, ensuring that you’re both aligned in important areas before saying "I do."
